DC PWM Motor Speed Controller – 6/12/24/28V, 3A: User’s Guide

1. Product Overview

This module regulates the speed of DC motors using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). By adjusting the duty cycle with the rotary knob, you can smoothly vary motor speed without significant loss of torque.

  • Input Voltage: 6V / 12V / 24V / 28V DC
  • Max Current: 3A continuous
  • Control Method: Rotary potentiometer knob
  • Output: PWM signal to motor load
  • Applications: Fans, pumps, robotics, DIY kits, educational projects

2. Terminals & Connections

Terminal Label Function
Power + VIN+ Connect to positive of DC supply (6–28V)
Power – VIN- Connect to negative of DC supply
Motor + M+ Connect to positive motor lead
Motor – M- Connect to negative motor lead

3. Controls

  • Rotary Knob (Potentiometer):
    • Turn clockwise → Increase duty cycle → Motor runs faster.
    • Turn counter‑clockwise → Decrease duty cycle → Motor slows down.

4. Installation & Wiring

  1. Ensure your motor’s rated voltage matches the supply (6–28V DC).
  2. Connect DC power supply to Power + / Power – terminals.
  3. Connect motor leads to Motor + / Motor – terminals.
  4. Double‑check polarity before powering on.
  5. Turn the knob to adjust motor speed.

5. Safety Notes

  • Do not exceed 28V DC input.
  • Ensure motor current does not exceed 3A.
  • Always disconnect power before wiring.
  • Avoid short circuits between terminals.
  • Use proper gauge wires for higher current loads.

6. Troubleshooting

Issue Possible Cause Solution
Motor not running Incorrect wiring / no power Check connections and supply voltage
Motor runs only at full speed Potentiometer damaged Inspect/replace knob
Module overheats Current too high Use lower‑power motor or add cooling
Motor speed unstable Loose wiring or poor power supply Tighten terminals, use regulated supply

7. Example Applications

  • Fan Speed Control: Adjust airflow in cooling systems.
  • Pump Flow Control: Regulate water pump speed in DIY projects.
  • Educational Kits: Demonstrate PWM motor control to students.
  • Robotics: Smooth speed adjustment for drive motors.

8. Package Includes

  • 1 × DC PWM Motor Speed Controller (6–28V, 3A)
  • 1 × Rotary knob (attached)
